ANC Chief Whip to speak at Mapungubwe celebration

Chief Whip of the Majority Party in Parliament, Dr Mathole Motshekga, will speak at the Mapungubwe heritage and rain-making celebration, to be held at Mapungubwe National Park and World Heritage Site in Limpopo on 29 October 2010
The objective of the event is to highlight the importance of indigenous knowledge in water conservation, which is linked to indigenous rainmaking. Rainmaking can be infused in a valuable body of knowledge to manage contemporary challenges such as water scarcity and climate change.
The event is organised by the department of Water and Environmental Affairs, through deputy minister Rejoice Mabudafhasi. His Majesty Khosikhulu T.T. Ramabulana Mphephu of the Vha-Venda, his counterpart His Majesty King Victor Thulare Sekhukhune of the Bapedi and other traditional leaders and their communities in the province will attend the event.
The Modjadji Dynasty descendants will also perform the rainmaking rituals at the ceremony.
