THE ANC COMMENDS THE POLICE FOR FOILING THE CASH-IN-TRANSIT ROBBERY
AM Molekwa
The ANC commends the police officers for the job well done in preventing a cash in transit heist. The ensuing shootout with the suspects resulted in the killing of 18 suspected robbers in Makhado, Limpopo province. Sixteen males and two females were killed and one police officer was injured during the shootout.
The suspects were believed to be planning a cash truck heist when they were approached by police and were believed to be responsible for similar crimes in other provinces such as Mpumalanga and Gauteng. However, further investigations will continue to ascertain other crimes that the group may have perpetrated.
As a result of that police operation, ten vehicles, including several high-powered performance vehicles and seven automatic rifles, were seized. The most important factor in that operation was the police's ability to destroy a syndicate possibly responsible for several cash-in-transit robberies in Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and Gauteng.
Thus, the success of that police operation was due to the cooperation of Limpopo and Mpumalanga forces working together to take on the syndicate. Once again the ANC applauds the team who has worked hard to stamp the authority of the state and their decisive handling of these criminals and wish the senior police officer who was wounded during the shootout, a speedy recovery
I thank you
