Crack down on drug dealers in Uitenhage

The ANC congratulates the Kwanobuhle - Uitenhage SAPS cluster for cracking down on drug dealers again. A joint operation between Uitenhage K9 Unit and the Crime Intelligence Unit yielded positive results, on Friday, 14 November 2014.

Members acted on information and obtained a search warrant for a house in Siviwe Street, Kwanobuhle. The premises were searched and with the assistance of the K9 dog, Indy, dagga was discovered in two containers inside a bedroom. Dagga estimated to the value of R11 000,00 (11 kg) was seized.

Two suspects a male, 29-years-old, and a female, 25-years-old, were arrested and were due to appear in the Kwanobuhle Magistrate`s court on Monday, 17 November 2014 on a charge of dealing in dagga.

The ANC welcomes the integrated approach by the SAPS to utilise intelligence-led operations to fight the scourge of drug-crime. The ANC-led government is committed to strengthening the capacity of the SAPS to detect crime and promptly arrest suspects to ensure that the people of South Africa are not only safe but that they in fact feel free.
