MOTION ON THE PASSING OF 30 PASSENGERS IN A BUS ACCIDENT IN EC

The African National Congress moves without notice: That the House

1. notes with shock at the passing on of 30 passengers in a fatal bus accident on the N2 between East London and Butterworth on Monday 16^th August 2021;

2. acknowledges that among the deceased is the driver of the bus, who allegedly lost control of the bus before crashing into the winding road’s guardrails and overturning;

3. understands that the bus was travelling from Cape Town to Mthatha, with passengers destined for Ngcobo, Butterworth and Dutywa;

4. calls for the authorities to expedite the investigations into the cause of this carnage; and

5. conveys its condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and wishes the injured passengers a speedy recovery.
