Motion on Proteas performance on 2nd 2018 Sunfoil Test
The African National Congress moves without notice: That the House
1) notes the great performance by Proteas during day three of the second 2018 Sunfoil Test match between South Africa and Australia at St George's Park, Port Elizabeth on 11 March 2018;
2) acknowledges that the brilliance of AB de Villiers and stunning performance of Kagiso Rabada ensured the Proteas level the series;
3) further acknowledges that the 34-year-old De Villiers was the mainstay of the Proteas innings with a superb unbeaten 126;
4) recalls that it was his 22nd Test century and first since returning from his sabbatical;
5) understands that fast bowler Rabada made a key breakthrough when he bowled David Warner for 13 during a hostile opening spell in which his fastest delivery was timed at 151 kmh;
6) further understands that Rabada struck again when he had Shaun Marsh caught behind for one with the second ball after tea;
7) recalls that Australia's fast bowlers, who had a heavy workload on the previous day, wilted under an assault in which De Villiers played strokes that were sometimes breathtaking; and
8) congratulates Proteas on such a splendid performance.
