Motion without notice by the ANC Chief Whip on the Election of SA into UN Security Council

I move without notice, that the House;

Noting;
That on Monday 16th of October, South Africa was elected to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council;

Further noting;
That the votes we receive on our elections to the United Nations Organisation Security Council seat was 186 votes out of 192;

Remembers;
That the votes we received from the members of the United Nations General Assembly is a clear expression of confidence the world has on us as a country and belief in our ability to make a positive contribution in the world affairs;

Recalls;
That we will hold the seat for two years starting from January 2007,

Expresses;
Its appreciation to the people of the world for the role you are affording our country to play in the world stage.
