Motion without Notice by the Chief Whip on the untimely death of the Zambian President, Patrick Levy Mwanawasa

I move without notice, that the House;
Noting,
With shock and profound sadness the untimely death of the Zambian President, Patrick Levy Mwanawasa on Tuesday, 19 August 2008;
Further noting,
That President Mwanawasa has been in hospital in Paris since suffering a stroke at the end of June 2008;
Recalls,
That he rose to prominence as a leader of the Multi-Party Movement for Democracy {MMD} in Zambia which won elections in 1991;
Acknowledges,
That in his role as Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community {SADC}, President Mwanawasa played a pivotal role in addressing the challenges facing the region;
Conveys,
It’s condolences to Mwanawasa family, the Zambian Government and people and, the Multi-Party Movement for Democracy;
