Mpumalanga pupils plant indigenous trees: Silence Makhubela

17 November 2011

The ANC is delighted by the initiative of the pupils from Tekwane Primary School outside Mbombela, who planted 50 indigenous trees on Wednesday, 02 November 2011, following a donation from ABSA.

This donation is part of the bank`s Eduplant programme, which seeks to educate and train school children, teachers and communities about environmental issues, including cleaning of school grounds and the expansion of existing food garden projects in partnership with NGO Food and Trees for Africa.

The ANC wishes other primary schools can learn from and follow the example of Tekwane Primary School, by planting indigenous trees and trees in general and thus, taking responsibility and contributing meaningfully in minimizing the impact of global warming and climate change.
