We celebrate with the community of Ndwedwe on receiving their state-of-the-art fire-fighting vehicle and a water tanker by the Provincial Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs.

Last year this community experienced a tragedy when five people died in a house fire in Mthebeni, Ward 11. The new tanker and fire-fighting vehicle is a major boost to the community and would greatly improve water access for residents and strengthen disaster management capacity. Improving the safety of our communities and speeding up response time by fire and rescue teams is of paramount importance.

We welcome the department’s commitment to supporting municipalities in fulfilling their constitutional mandate of providing services to communities.
