Statement by Joseph Selua on the Presidential visit
2 September 2010
President Zuma`s visit to China is part of the ANC Government aim of consolidating South-South relations and strengthening of political, economic and trade relations with the Peoples Republic of China.
The two countries signed the Beijing Declaration. The declaration outlined 38 bilateral cooperation agreements, ranging from political dialogues, trade, investment, mineral exploration and agriculture to joint efforts in the global arena, such as in the United Nations and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
A key element of this expanded partnership is the partnership for growth and development, focusing on key issues such as beneficiation and value addition to resources, infrastructure, market access and trade to the SADC region and Africa as a whole. This comprehensive strategic partnership declaration will guide South Africa`s overall interaction with China over the next ten to fifteen years.
I thank you!
