Statement by Mapule Mafolo on caring for the elderly

The ANC believes that sport and recreation are an integral part of reconstructing and developing a healthier society. Sport and recreation should cut across all developmental programmes, and be accessible and affordable to all South Africans, including those living in rural areas, young and the elderly.
The ANC supports the National Golden Games, which took place from 26 - 27 October at Umhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay.
The National Golden Games are part of a programme rolled out in residential care centres for older persons, with the aim of keeping them healthy.
The ANC supports initiatives geared at improving the quality of life of the elderly
