The Office of the ANC Chief Whip in Parliament has learnt of the sad passing of veteran actress Nomhle Nkonyeni, who passed away during the early hours of this morning at the age of 77 years-old.

Born in Port Elizabeth in April 1942, Nkonyeni’s acting career spanned over three decades and was a cast member of several award winning productions in theatre, film and television. In April of this year the Order of Ikhamanga in Silver was bestowed upon Nkonyeni by President Cyril Ramaphosa, for her excellent contribution to the performing arts.

The Office of the ANC Chief Whip sends its deepest condolences to her family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.
