ANC mourns passing of ANC MP, Comrade Joyce Maluleke

The Office of the Chief Whip has learned with great sadness of the passing of ANC MP Comrade Boitumelo Joyce Maluleke, who succumbed to Covid-19 related complications yesterday.

Cde Maluleke began her political career as a Member of the Provincial Legislature at Limpopo Provincial Legislature as the Chairperson of the Education Committee until May 2014. She became a Member of Parliament in 2015, serving in the Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and the Ad-Hoc Committee on the Filling of Vacancies in the Commission for Gender Equality.

She was currently serving as a Member at the Powers and Privileges Committee of Parliament, the Portfolio Committee on Women, Youth and People with Disabilities and the Portfolio Committee on Public Service and Administration, Performance Monitoring & Evaluation.

Cde Maluleke recently played a critical role in the shortlisting and interviewing process of candidates for the NYDA board. The ANC Caucus has lost a dedicated soldier who was committed to the advancement of an equal, just and democratic society.

As the ANC Parliamentary Caucus, we extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the late Cde Maluleke.

We urge South Africans to continue to adhere to Covid-19 health protocols,including wearing a mask, washing and sanitizing our hands regularly, maintaining social distance and minimize unnecessary movements and gatherings. We further urge those aged from 35 to register and go for vaccinations.
