The Office of the Chief Whip has today, Wednesday, 19 May 2021, learned with great shock and sadness of the passing of ANC MP Cde Tshoganetso Mpho Adolphina Tongwane.
Cde Tongwane joined the 4th Parliament in 2008, serving in the Portfolio Committee on Human Settlements and the Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs. In the 5th Parliament, she served in the Portfolio Committee on Labour and the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
In this 6th Parliament, Cde Tongwane was currently serving in the Portfolio Committee on Forestry, Fisheries and Environment. She was also currently an additional regional executive member of the Northern Cape ANCWL
The ANC Parliamentary Caucus is saddened by the sudden passing of Cde Tongwane. We have lost a dedicated and loyal member who carried out her duties with grace and compassion, a Comrade who embraced unity to make the lives of South Africans better.
As the ANC Parliamentary Caucus, we extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the late Cde Tongwane. May her revolutionary soul rest in peace.
