ANC Caucus welcomes the appointment of Lungi Gcabashe as new Chief of Staff to the Office of the Chief Whip

The ANC Caucus has today; Thursday 18 June 2020 welcomed the appointment of Lungi Gcabashe as the new Chief of Staff in the Office of the Hon. Chief Whip Pemmy Majodina in Parliament.

Armed with a vast array of experience in both organizational skills and legislative experience; Lungi Gcabashe brings with her a wealth of political experience in her capacity as a Member of the Kwa Mashu Residents Committee as well as KwaMashu Peace Committee dating back to the days of the United Democratic Front which contributed in setting up peace structures in Kwa Zulu – Natal that led to a much more stable province.

Key amongst her illustrious track – record is her stint as a PEC and PWC Member of the ANC in KZN in 1995, former Provincial Chairperson of the ANC Women’s League, leading to her election to the African National Congress National Executive Committee, a stint she served from December 2012 to December 2017.

Her vast experience as the Deputy Head of Housing at the Ethekwini Metro Human Settlements Housing Department leading to her tenure as a Member of Parliament from 2014 – 2019 with the additional responsibilities of Whip on Human Settlements from June 2014 to October 2017 as well as Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises Study Group whilst deployed as a Member of Parliament will come in handy as Parliament deals with the turnaround strategies of many State owned enterprises and their ability to assist in the economic recovery process.

The Chief Whip, together with Members of Caucus personally Mondli Gungubele and Mika Mahlaule welcomed Cde Lungi Gcabashe and wished her well in this strategic deployment aimed at strengthening Caucus in Parliament.
