ANC Parliamentary Caucus mourns the sad passing of Comrade Bavelile Hlongwa

14 September 2019

The Office of the Chief Whip has learned with shock and sadness of the tragic passing of African National Congress (ANC) Member of Parliament comrade Bavelile Hlongwa. Comrade Hlongwa lost her life in an accident yesterday evening, returning from a programme of the ANC Youth League in Limpopo.

A dedicated public representative, comrade Hlongwa was deployed to parliament after the General Elections of 8 May 2019; at the time of her passing, she was serving as the Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy.

As one of the youngest members of the executive, the untimely passing of comrade Hlongwa leaves an immense void within structures of the ANC Parliamentary Caucus and the ANC as a whole. With her departure, South Africans have truly been robbed of one of its most committed public representatives.

The ANC Parliamentary Caucus extends its heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, colleagues and comrades during this difficult time of loss.

May her revolutionary spirit rest in peace.

ISSUED BY THE OFFICE OF THE ANC CHIEF WHIP, COMRADE PEMMY MAJODINA
