The African National Congress moves without notice: That the House
- congratulates Banyana Banyana for their stunning World Cup successes,
- notes that Banyana Banyana made history as the first senior South African national women or men’s football team to progress beyond the group stages of the FIFA World Cup, at the FIFA Women’s World Cup that took place in Australia and New Zealand;
- also notes that they became the first senior South African football team to qualify for the knockout round of a FIFA World Cup,
- hopes that their successful performance in the World Cup will usher in the need to invest more not only in women’s soccer but also in women’s sport in general,
- also hopes that it will strengthen the campaign for equal pay for women and men sports persons,
- believes that they have raised the South African soccer and flag internationally and the nation is proud of Banyana Banyan; and.
- wishes Banyana Banyana more success in their future endeavours.
