The African National Congress moves without notice: That The House
- congratulates Sivenathi “the Special One” Nontshinga on regaining the IBF light flyweight title in a rematch when he stopped Adrian “Gatito” Curiel in the tenth round on Friday, 16 February 2024, in Mexico;
- notes that “The Special One” Nontshinga became the first local boxer to lose a world title and reclaim it in an immediate rematch with Curiel who previously knocked him out in the second round in Monaco in November 2023;
- recalls that Nontshinga hit his opponent hard in round ten, forcing the referee to step in to wave the fight off, as the champion was in no condition to continue;
- acknowledges that the South African boxer displayed true character as he entered a champion’s hometown and reclaimed his title in front of 10,000 Mexican fans; and.
commends Sivenathi Nontshinga for raising the country’s flag sky high and making the country proud.
