New ANC Member of Parliament sworn in today

The ANC Parliamentary Caucus has today, Tuesday 23 June 2020, welcomed the appointment and return of Fikile Khumalo, deployed from KwaZulu-Natal, as a new Member of Parliament in the National Assembly.

Cde Khumalo has been appointed to fill in the vacancy that arose from the passing of the late Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Cde Bavelile Hlongwa. The new MP was virtually sworn in this afternoon by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr Lechesa Tsenoli, along with the Secretary of the National Assembly, Mr Xaso.

As a former Member of the 4th Parliament, Comrade Khumalo previously served in the; Portfolio Committee on Social Development; Portfolio Committee On Trade and Industry; Committee On Private Members’ Legislative Proposals And Special Petitions; and the Private Members’ Legislative Proposals and Special Petitions.

The Chief Whip and Chief of Staff, Cde Lungi Gcabashe, welcomed Cde Fikile Khumalo and wished her well in this strategic deployment aimed at strengthening Caucus in Parliament.
