New ANC Member of Parliament Sworn In

The African National Congress in Parliament welcomes the appointment of Cde Matshidiso Mfikoe as a new Member of Parliament to fill the vacancy in the National Assembly that became vacant due to the passing of Cde Anastasia Motaung.  

Cde Mfikoe was sworn-in as a new Member of Parliament today, 10 October 2022, by the Acting Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Ouma Boroto, who is the House Chair.

She joins the Caucus with great experience from the previous positions she has served in, which include:

  • Member of the Mayoral Committee  (MMC): Finance  City Of Johannesburg (Aug 2021- Nov 2021)
  • Committee Chairperson of the  EISD Section 79 Portfolio Committee: City Of Johannesburg Metropolitan Council 2021 
  • ANC Deputy Chief Whip: City Of Johannesburg Metropolitan Council 2020 TO 2021 
  • Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC): Environment and Infrastructure Services Department, City of Johannesburg (2012 – 2016)
  • Member of the Mayoral Committee  (MMC): Public Safety (2011 – 2012)
  • Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC): Environment and Corporate Service City of Johannesburg (2009 – 2011)

Cde Mfikoe has also served in various leadership roles as a Regional Executive Committee Member in the ANC Greater Johannesburg Region, Deputy Secretary General of the Progressive Professional Forum and Former South African Local Government Association Provincial Deputy Chairperson. She is currently studying for a Bachelors in Public management. 

As the ANC in Parliament, we have full confidence that she will serve the people of South Africa with distinction.
